Packing Delicate Items for My Dallas Move

Most of the time, when people think about moving to  a new home, they think about calling up a moving company out of the phone book, getting a price and then standing back while the movers pack them up for relocation. And, to an extent, that’s about the size of it for the average household. Of course, some special delicate keepsakes might be packed by the individual families for transport in their own vehicle (either owned or rented). But what if there are quite a few delicate items to be moved?

This happened to be the very situation that my family was in when it came time for us to move from our old apartment to a new home that we had just purchased. The apartment had originally belonged to my grandmother and she had lived there just about forever. That meant that she had stored a lot of items that had been passed down to me and some of them were quite valuable. I didn’t want to find myself in the position hiring professional movers that didn’t understand the value of these items. So I began to look at my options.

The first thing that I took note of was the limitations of my budget. I didn’t have to find the cheapest moving company in Dallas, but I couldn’t afford the most expensive company, either. The next thing that I needed to be concerned with was the level of professionalism that the company that I chose would exhibit with the packing of all of those items that mean so much to me and my family. The only way to do this, of course, is to sit down and have a talk with a representative of the moving company.

I wanted to be sure that I was proceeding in a logical manner when it came to accomplishing these two items. I only knew one way to do this when presented with a limited amount of time, as well. The best way to move forward as quickly as possible was to get online and start asking for quotes so I could separate the lower quotes out and start looking at packing specialist companies that I could afford. This would allow me to focus on the quality of the moving trucking companies that I had on my list, so I could set an appointment with the best ones.

Saving on Our Dallas Move

My new company setup was just about complete and now it was time to move my family to our new home in Dallas. But we had nearly exhausted our resources with the company setup and we were on a shoestring budget when it came to moving to our new house. Well. I guess the first thing that we considered by getting some low cost high quality cardboard moving boxes. We would also need other supplies to go along with that, such as bubble wrap and a few other things. But we needed to find good deals.

Fortunately, one one of our last moves, we secured a lot of information that was very helpful when it came to moving some of our more delicate personal items. We had decided to do this ourselves, since we knew that we would take extra special care of them. the moving supplies that we used were from a website that my company uses on a regular bases when we have to ship out part to our clients who are located all over the world. Trust me – you need good quality packing supplies when you do this – or else.

Anyway, our current home at that time was just outside of Dallas, so we wanted to hire an expert moving team from within Dallas. This way, they would be familiar with the city and the traffic patterns. We wanted our move to go as smoothly as possible with no traffic tie ups or heavy traffic issues, in general. This meant only one thing. It was time for me to get on the Internet and do a little research regarding the various Dallas moving companies. This way, I could determine who would be the ones to most likely give us the best service.

Now that my company had made its move, I had the time to look on the Internet and start asking for quotes. I also had the time to compare those quotes while looking up each company’s feedback from their former customers. This tells you a lot about a company, but there’s still one item. You always want to have a talk with the folks that you might be doing business with. This will give you a good idea of how seriously they take their business and how much they care about their customers. There’s just no substitute for that.

Packing Up and Moving to Dallas

I was getting ready to pack up and move to Dallas TX and I wanted to save some money. From past experience, I knew that the best way to go about this was to head on over to my PC and jump on the Internet. There, I could cruise around the Net and check out the websites that specialized in packing supplies and professional moving companies. The competition is pretty stiff, so the websites are willing to make some good deals available. As far as I’m concerned, this is the best way to shop.

In my case, I was relocating to Garland TX and I wanted a move that knew that area well. When you deal with a mover that knows the area, not only will you get a good deal, but you get good customer service as well. That’s because moving companies also depend on word of mouth advertising in order to acquire new customers. This gives them a bit of an edge over the competition. I’ve noticed a higher level of customer service when it comes to companies that I have dealt with on the Internet and I always make sure to post my experiences online.

When I first took a look at the websites that offered to provide low prices for my move, the first thing that I noticed was how long the company had been in business. If it was a well established company, I utilized the site to ask for a quote. I accomplished this by answering a few questions that were designed to pinpoint my moving needs. Shortly thereafter, I was sent a quote that I was pretty sure was the lowest quote that they could come up with. You usually don’t get a chance when you’re bidding against other moving companys.

After I was able to set all of that up, it was time to find some cheap cardboard packing supplies that I could use in order to get a head start on packing up some of the things that I knew I’ll be needing as soon as I got to Texas. A friend gave me a good piece of advice when he said to make sure that I packed the things I would need right away on top of the items in each box I packed. That means the things I need to get ready in the morning and other immediate needs items as well.

Move Those Boxes to Dallas, Please!

A lot of folks tend to get a bit flustered when it comes to setting up the logistics of a major family move. And to tell you the truth, you really can’t blame them. There are a lot of elements to relocating to a different home. This is especially true if that new home is in a completely different part of the country. To begin with, everyone in the family will have to get used to a different culture. As you know, each section of the U.S. is different.

Then you have the added stress of being concerned about your valuable possessions. By that, I don’t just mean costly items like a computer or a large screen TV. Some things have a value that can be hard for all of us to understand – such as a child’s precious toy. Seriously, can all of us understand how a small child feels about placing their favorite dolls inside a dark cardboard box? That child wants to be reassured that those dolls will be okay. The moving professional that reassures that small child is the person I want to hire.

Anyway, my wife and I needed to purchase some high quality packing supplies consisting mainly of good cardboard boxes of various sizes. We went out to the Internet and checked out a online moving supply store that offered free shipping and came with a great customer rating. Then we needed to set up the move with a solid packing and trucking company. This was going to be a bit more complicated, since I needed to make arrangements and also checkout he reputation of the company, as well. But, fortunately, I knew how to do this type of online research in a quick and effective manner.

Once I began asking for cheap online moving truck quotes, the quotes, along with some additional moving information began pouring in. Then I started my research that included, among other things, customer comments about the various companies – starting with the companies that offered the lowest prices and then moving my way up. At one point, I began seeing some companies that seemed to offer the best of both worlds (low prices and great customer feedback). It was then that I created my “short list”. Once this list was created, I set up a couple of appointments to meet with the movers. From there, I selected the company that eventually moved my family.

I’ve Always Been a Texan at Heart

Although I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, my career has taken me to just about every place on the globe! That’s just fine, since I’ve had the chance to see and do a lot of things, both in the U.S. and internationally. But one thing just kept coming back to mind. The things that I remembered about Texas from my youth kept coming back in my dreams and reminding me of what I was missing. I knew that at some point in my life I would find myself back there.

That time came a bit sooner than expected when I discovered that I had the opportunity to set up a business office right in the heart of Dallas! There are no words to describe how happy I was at that turn of events. The only thing that I could think of when I discovered this was that I now needed to hire a good reliable moving van company in order to get me on the road to my  destination. But how was I going to go about doing all this? The answer was simple. I’d start with the Internet!

If it’s one thing that all my years in business have taught me is that you can get the best deals where you can find low overhead coupled with high demand and stiff competition. That pretty much sums up the market experience online. The other huge advantage that the Internet has to offer is the ability to look up the reputation of companies. For me, this translated into checking up on moving and storage locations in my area. I ran into  some very enlightening customer comments about a number of companies that provided these services.

But, in the long run, I knew that I would have to speak to these Texas relocation experts myself, if I wanted to get the whole picture. It’s important that, in order to avoid any unexpected hassles,  you and the company that you are working with are on the same page. Getting a good “feel” of the company that you’re going to be working with is only achievable, in my humble opinion, by actually speaking with a company representative. This is where you can use your gut feelings in order to really determine if a company is actually sincere or not.

Back On The Road and Heading For Dallas

I was sitting along in my apartment, waiting for my moving packing boxes to arrive and thinking about all the places where my business has taken me. I deal in foreign exports from Southeast Asia and I have spent many years traveling from one country to another. This has always struck me as a bit humorous, since I was raised in Dallas, Texas and never considered leaving the state, much less the country. But you never know where life is going to take you. For me, it was looking over the Texas city landscape one minute and dealing in a hot Philippine rural district the next.

As time went on, I thought that I would never get back “home” again, until I secured a major investment offer that would allow me to have a home office just about anywhere that I wanted. For me, the decision was easy. It was time to pack up my business and move back home to the Dallas – Ft. Worth area! I was finally going home. But I also knew that I had to get all of my items out of storage (not far from Dallas) and move them to my new home office location.

Once I was back in the United States, I stayed at a friend’s house which served as a “base of operations” where I could get all of my things out of storage and have them packed and moved to my permanent location in Dallas. After I began to move my items out of storage, I sent for some moving boxes and packing supplies, since there were a lot of things that I wanted to go through and pack myself. Some of these items were valuable and I wanted to be very careful with them.

The rest of the things that I was moving to Dallas could be handled by the actual moving company, once I took them out of the climate controlled storage facility where I had been keeping them.Of course, I made every effort to find the very best moving professionals in the area. But all this really entailed was using some good selection techniques when it comes to finding highly rated services located on the Internet. That’s the really good thing about hiring services online. You can easily judge a company by the things that their former customers say about them and take the time to post.

My Business Now Calls Dallas “Home”

When I first started my business on the East Coast, moving to Texas was the last thing on my mind. However, many years later and the expansion of my company has seen many changes in the way that I look at things. Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to do a significant amount of business in the State of Texas. I’ve also had the opportunity to move a few satellite business locations to Dallas as part of an experimental project. Those moves to Dallas turned out to be highly profitable!

I’ll admit that I was against the idea, at first, but it looked like a permanent move to Dallas would be the right thing to to. But not just for the sake of business. You see, whenever my family accompanied me to my Dallas trips, they had such a good time that, eventually, they kept on asking me when were we going to move there and stay. I have to say that I was surprised, since I never thought my family would ever consider relocating to Texas, since their roots were in the East Coast.

I guess it the hospitality that they experienced in Texas that changed their way of looking at things. It’s that same hospitality that helped me to establish a business presence in Dallas. Now, I could see the logic in moving there and making it our family home as well as our business home. But this was going to take a lot of planning and preparation, since I not only had to arrange my home and family move, but my business move, as well. Fortunately, I had done business with a moving company that had delivered good customer service when I had to set up those satellite locations by moving equipment to Plano, TX.

I contacted the same movers and told them what I needed. They were very responsive and began to help me with the details of my moves right off the bat. We worked out the logistics of moving my company’s equipment at the same time that we worked out the details of my home move. Everything went as smooth as silk, which was a great relief, since I was busy with many other details of relocating my business. When we finally set up in Dallas, my family was thrilled with the task of exploring their new home!

Our New Texas Locale

I was told that moving your home to a new area of Texas would prove to be an exciting adventure. However, I was a bit skeptical because I understood that “exciting” doesn’t always mean “enjoyable”! Trust me, some of the most exciting things in my life are events that I would not rather have to go through again. I was hoping that moving to a new location didn’t rank among those unpleasant experiences. So I was determined to take each step one at a time and move very carefully through this new “adventure”.

So, I took off some time from work in order to plan the relocation. This was necessary – especially when you consider some of the fragile items that would be a part of the moving process. There was no way that I was going to rush through things, only to pay the price once I arrived at my destination. For me, this meant that I was going to pack the really delicate items myself and leave the other things to a professional moving company. But not just any moving company – one with a solid reputation for customer satisfaction and reasonable prices.

You know, one of the reasons why I do so much shopping online has to do with the fact that I hate driving around town – especially when there’s a lot of traffic. This always seems to be the case on my days off. By the time I get to the store that I want, I’m already tired and in no mood to deal with salespeople. Add to that, having already exhausted myself due to this new home relocation and you can imagine how much I would dread looking around town for a good deal when it comes to home movers!

So, it was a matter of sitting in front of my computer and checking out the appropriate movers websites before I even thought about making any decisions. Hey, Dallas is a huge place and I wanted to look over as much info as I could that might help me select the best moving company. Besides all the neat things to do, Dallas websites offer some great ideas when it comes to moving there. With the help of the Internet, I was able to research quite a few moving companies before I created a short list of potential movers to help me out.

Moving Used to Be a Hassle

At one time in my life, moving used to be a major hassle. I absolutely dreaded the thought of having to take my home apart and gather up all the items that were so precious to me. Then came the chore of packing everything up and then having to be ever so careful when it came to not breaking any dishes or other fragile things that had been handed down in my family for generations. Fortunately, however, things have changed a bit over the years. And I can thank the Internet for that!

You see, when home PCs first became popular, I made it a hobby to understand how they work and how people were now linked together. It wasn’t long before I started making purchases online. This led to eventually contracting services online, as well. It’s because of this that my thoughts turned to the Internet when it came time for me to make a move to another home location. The first thing that I did was to go online and see what my options were when it came to professional moving companies that I could use.

However, I have some tips that can help you hire the best relocation services that you could possible find! It’s really all a matter of taking some time out to do a little online research regarding prices and the quality of service. To top it off, it’s a pretty simple affair, as well! The first step is getting a good deal. You do this by going online and using a search engine in order to find the various websites that offer quotes on your move. You just ask them for quotes and sit back until the quotes arrive in your email. Then just compare the quotes.

The next step is just as simple. After you have arranged your quotes, you can select the lowest ones and then begin investigating the companies offering those low quotes. This is also a simple matter, since all you have to do is to go back online and look up he consumer ratings of those companies. You’ll find out things such as how a company packs and moved delicate items. You will also see a lot of comments regarding other aspects of their service, too. These comments can relate to things such as a company’s responsiveness to the needs of their customers and the manner in which customers are treated.

Relocating to a Much Larger City

You never stop to think that you may be moving to a much larger city and that you would soon be looking for a Dallas relocation trucking company – but there we were. It just goes to show you that you never know where you’re going to end up or how you’re going to get there. In my case, it was a question of my wife’s employment. You see, she works for a large attorney firm and they were opening up an office in Dallas, TX.  They wanted her to move there and we were in a position to comply.

You see, I’m a writer – so I can work just about anywhere. It was just a question of moving our belongings. This was a bit of a concern for my wife and me, at first. I don’t really like the idea of having to trust my  valuables with strangers. But there is a way to get around this. You can trust a company that has a number of positive reviews from past customers. You can locate these reviews online just by using a standard search engine. People just love to post  their opinions in online forums.

So, being the methodical person that I am, I began to gather up all kinds of data in my free time. The first items that I got related to the area that we were going to be moving. Namely, Dallas information and facts. This gave my family a baseline that made us feel more comfortable with the move that were going to be making. It’s always a lot better when you know the area befoe you make a move. The moving company that we had selected was also pretty helpful when it came to supplying local Dallas information.

Finally, we sat down with our selected Dallas expert movers and had a long discussion. This discussion involved all types of things such as the techniques that they would use to move fragile items. Once we understood that these guys knew what they were doing, we were mo comfortable with the whole procedure. I’m pleased to be able to say that the entire move went smoothly and my whole family is settled and happy in our new home! This is why my friends and family make it a point to get our advice when it comes to making a long distance move.
